On July 20th, Airbus Defence and Space cyber, representing ECYSAP project, participated in Le Triomphe de Saint Cyr Coëtquidan. Le Triomphe is a ceremony that celebrates the end of scholarship for French Army officers previously integrated, and welcomes the new students that are to become the next generation of officers.
‘’To be up to the challenges and threats ahead of us, we need modern and interoperable European armed forces equipped with the latest cyber defence capabilities’’.
Josep Borrel.
High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
The main objective of the ECYSAP project is to develop and implement of innovative theoretical foundations, methods and research prototypes integrated towards providing a European operational platform for enabling high maturity real-time Cyber Situational Awareness (CSA) for military end-users, capable of cyber response, automated and deployable in the same area of operations (National/European) interconnected between envisaged and identified intelligent nodes.
On July 20, 2024, Airbus Defence and Space Cyber played a prominent role at Le Triomphe de Saint Cyr Coëtquidan, a prestigious ceremony that marks the culmination of the training journey for French Army officers and welcomes the next generation of military leaders. This annual event, steeped in tradition, not only celebrates the achievements of outgoing cadets but also provides a platform for showcasing the latest advancements in military technology and innovation.
Le Triomphe de Saint Cyr features an Innovation Forum, a key highlight of the event where cutting-edge technologies and solutions are presented to military personnel, their families, and distinguished guests. This year, Airbus Defence and Space Cyber seized the opportunity to demonstrate its leadership in the rapidly evolving domain of cyber warfare by presenting two of its most advanced solutions: CyberRange and the European Cyber Situational Awareness Platform (ECYSAP).
CyberRange, already deployed in various operational contexts such as military training and engineering education, was showcased as a versatile tool designed to enhance cyber readiness and resilience. Its role in training and preparing military personnel for the complexities of cyberspace operations was emphasized, highlighting its practical applications and effectiveness.
Alongside CyberRange, Airbus Defence and Space Cyber also introduced ECYSAP, a collaborative project developed within a consortium that includes Indra, Leonardo, and Cybernetica. ECYSAP is poised to reach Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL7), indicating a high level of maturity and readiness for deployment. This modular solution, designed to enhance cyber situational awareness across Europe, is being developed in close cooperation with the European Defence Administration and four Ministries of Defence from France, Spain, Italy, and Estonia.
The presentation of these innovations at Le Triomphe was not only a demonstration of technological prowess but also an opportunity to communicate the significance of cyber capabilities in modern warfare. Airbus Defence and Space Cyber’s participation underscored its commitment to developing and delivering the essential tools needed to address cyberspace as the fifth domain of warfare. By engaging with military staff, as well as their families and friends, Airbus aimed to demystify the complexities of cyber warfare, making the significance and impact of these technologies accessible to a broader audience.
As Airbus Defence and Space Cyber continues to advance its capabilities, events like Le Triomphe de Saint Cyr provide invaluable platforms to showcase their progress and reinforce their role as leaders in the field of cyber defense. The company’s dedication to innovation and collaboration with European partners positions it at the forefront of efforts to secure cyberspace and ensure the readiness of Europe’s armed forces for the challenges of the future.
